Associate Professor David Orchard

Associate Professor David Orchard is the principal of the practice. He completed FACD in Victoria in 1998. He then completed a Fellowship of Paediatric Dermatology in Denver, USA in 2000. David is currently the Head of the Dermatology Department at the Royal Children's Hospital, specialising in paediatric dermatology. Specific interests include eczema, allergy testing, vascular birthmarks, laser therapy and Genodermatoses.

Dr Shally Gupta

Dr Shally Gupta has been working at Barker’s Road Dermatology since April 2011. Shally became a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists in 2011, having trained at St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne, Royal Melbourne Hospital, Peter MacCallum Cancer Institute and Skin and Cancer Foundation Victoria. Dr Gupta is a general dermatologist with a special interest in vulval disorders. She has public appointments as Visiting Specialist Dermatologist at Northern Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital and Austin Hospital.

Dr Vanessa Palmer

Dr Vanessa Palmer is a Specialist Dermatologist and a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatology. She undertook her medical training at the University of Queensland and worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Royal Children’s Hospital in Brisbane. She was awarded The Australasian College of Dermatologists Research Fellowship at St John’s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin, Guys and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London, UK. Here she undertook 1 year of her Dermatology training in specialist clinics including genetics (including a specialized Epidermolysis Bullosa clinic), paediatric, cutaneous lymphoma, severe psoriasis and severe eczema services, photobiology and hidradenitis suppurativa clinics. She spent the final years of her specialist training in Melbourne at St Vincents Hospital Fitzroy, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Austin Hospital Heidelberg, Box Hill Hospital and the Skin and Cancer Foundation, Carlton. Dr Palmer has published in international peer reviewed medical journals and has spoken at international meetings and conferences including the Royal Society of Medicine in London and the British Society for Paediatric Dermatology Annual Meeting in Edinburgh, Scotland. Dr Palmer has a keen interest in both paediatric and adult dermatology.

Dr Susan Robertson, MBBS, FACD

Dr Robertson graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2003 and subsequently worked at the Royal Melbourne and Royal Children’s Hospitals before commencing dermatology training in 2007. In 2008, Dr Robertson obtained the Roche Travelling Scholarship enabling her to undertake a year of dermatology training at St John’s institute of Dermatology in London. On returning to Melbourne she completed her training based at the Austin Hospital and subsequently Monash Medical Centre.

During her training, she also regularly attended sessions at the Alfred Hospital, the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and the Skin and Cancer Foundation. She obtained her fellowship with the Australasian College of Dermatology in 2011. Since becoming a consultant dermatologist, Dr Robertson has worked full time in private practice in Perth. She returned to Melbourne in 2012 to join the Barker’s Road Dermatology Practice. She has a special interest in paediatric dermatology.
dr matthew palmer

Dr Matthew Palmer

Dr Matthew Palmer is a specialist dermatologist working in private practice and at the Skin and Cancer Foundation. After completing his Bachelors of Biomedical Science and Science with Honours at the University of Melbourne, he undertook graduate medical training at the University of Queensland, graduating in 2008. Dr Palmer worked at the Royal Brisbane Hospital prior to commencing dermatology specialist training in 2010, and he undertook his dermatology training in Brisbane, the United Kingdom and Melbourne, covering general medical, surgical and paediatric dermatology.

Dr Palmer has published papers in the Australasian Journal of Dermatology as well as international journals and has spoken at national dermatology conferences. He has interests in both general and surgical dermatology, including inflammatory skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis, acne treatment, skin cancer management and hair loss disorders.
dr niyati sharma

Dr Niyati Sharma

Dr Niyati Sharma is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists and consultant dermatologist at the Alfred Hospital, Box Hill hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Dandenong Hospital and the Skin and Cancer Foundation. As part of her training, Dr Sharma spent a year working at the National Skin Institute in Singapore, gaining added experience in Asian skin diseases.

Dr Sharma was awarded an Eddington Scholarship, which enabled her to travel to St Johns Institute of Dermatology, UK a world-renowned paediatric dermatology centre. Dr Sharma is a published author in international dermatology literature including the Australasian Journal of Dermatology and has presented her research at dermatological conferences. She is also part of the expert group panel for the recent Dermatology Therapeutic Guidelines.

Dr Sharma is involved in the education of dermatology trainees and currently providing mentorship to dermatology registrars and residents. Dr Sharma enjoys all aspects of general adult and paediatric dermatology.
